The pass rate for Level I is up slightly from September and, for Level II, it is down slightly.  It is fairly standard that, as these type of professional exams become more established, the exams (particulary the higher level ones) get a little harder and the pass rate gets lower.

• For Level II Suite clients, the Webinar Series currently provides a course on the Convertible Arbitrage Strategy, which is part of the curriculum.

Level I - Very minor changes were made to the Level I Curriculum.

Level II - Some changes were made to Topics 7-11.

• Some readings were removed and new readings were added to Topics 7-11.
• The order of some of the Topics were changed.

So what’s the next step for Level II candidates?

• Candidates who passed Level II - you can now complete the process of becoming CAIA members - all you have to do is sign the candidate agreement and pay your annual membership dues.  We look forward to seeing new CAIA members at CAIA Chapter gatherings.
• Candidates who were not successful - we understand that sometimes work committments prevent you from being able to devote sufficient time to your study program.  For this reason, we provide our UpperMark Assurance, which gives a significant discount off Suite packages for qualified clients who defer or retake their CAIA exams.  Please check out the details of the UpperMark Assurance on our website.

So what’s the next step for candidates?

• Candidates who successfully completed Level I -
  • You can now begin preparing your study program for your Level II exam in September 2010.
  • The Level II exam is different in content and structure than the Level I exam.  There is further concentration in alternative investments, and the exam structure has essay-type questions, as well as multiple-choice questions.

• 17 May – early registration ends.
• 2 August – standard registration ends.
• 13-24 Sept – Level I CAIA exam period.
• 20 Sept - 1 Oct – Level II CAIA exam period.

Candidates who register in the early registration period (before 17 May) receive a 10% discount.

The CAIA Association also released its Study Guides for the September ’10 exams today.
